Clean and Bird-Proof Your Panels in Guildford, Surrey
Streaky panels, bird droppings or pigeons nesting under the array are among the most common reasons Guildford homeowners look for a solar cleaner. Solar Panel Price can pass your enquiry to up to four cleaning and maintenance specialists covering Guildford, letting you compare quotes in one go.
How Solar Panels Are Cleaned
Pure-water cleaning from the ground using telescopic poles is the standard method for most houses, which leaves panels spot-free without detergents. High-pressure jets and scouring pads can damage the glass coating and seals, and may void the panel warranty. For taller buildings or heavy lichen, the company may use a cherry picker or roof access.
Stopping Birds Nesting Under the Array
Pigeons nesting under panels are a common complaint around Guildford. Beyond the noise and mess, they can chew through cables and block gutters. A mesh barrier clipped around the edge of the array keeps them out, fixed with non-penetrating clips so the panels and roof are not damaged. Active nests are protected by law, so timing may need planning.
Solar Maintenance Costs in Guildford
Most solar cleaning and maintenance jobs in Guildford cost between £100 and £450. Simple ground-level cleans are the cheapest, while bird-proofing with nest and fouling removal is at the top.

Frequently Asked Questions
The answers below cover points homeowners often raise before requesting a quote.
How do I get solar panel cleaning quotes in Guildford?
Send one enquiry with your postcode, the number of panels and the height of the building. We can pass it to up to four cleaning companies covering Guildford.
Will cleaning my solar panels make a difference?
It can, particularly if panels are visibly dirty or fouled by birds. Compare your generation before and after the clean to see how much difference it makes on your roof.
Is bird mesh noticeable from the street?
Mesh is fitted tight to the edge of the panels and is usually black or dark grey, so it is fairly discreet from ground level on most roofs.
Can solar panels be cleaned in winter?
Yes, although many companies avoid frosty days. Cleaning in early spring ahead of the higher-generating months is a popular choice.
