Solar Inverter Replacement in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil
A failed inverter is the most common reason a solar system in Dowlais stops working, and replacing it is usually far cheaper than people expect. One enquiry can reach up to four local specialists who swap string, hybrid and microinverters, so you can compare prices and options.
How a Replacement Is Carried Out
- The engineer checks the panel strings and existing wiring.
- AC and DC isolators are switched off and the system made safe.
- The old inverter comes off the wall and the new one goes up.
- Wiring is connected and grid protection settings applied.
- The system is tested and monitoring is linked to your Wi-Fi.
- You receive an electrical certificate and warranty details.
Planning Ahead for a Battery
Replacing a failed inverter is a good moment to think about battery storage. A hybrid model runs your existing panels and can take a battery straight away or in future. The upfront price is higher than a simple swap, but avoids a second inverter later on.

A Useful Question for Your Specialist
For an inverter swap in Dowlais, send a clear photograph of the old model label and any error display. The engineer should check panel-string compatibility and monitoring before fitting the new unit, then demonstrate the readings and provide the relevant test and warranty paperwork.
A clear written scope helps you compare what is included before choosing a contractor.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some practical answers to common questions about this work.
How do I get inverter replacement quotes in Dowlais?
Send one enquiry with your postcode, the inverter make and model, and any error code. We can match it with up to four engineers covering Dowlais.
How do I know if my solar inverter has failed?
Typical signs are a red fault light, an error code that will not clear, a blank display or a generation meter that has stopped moving on a bright day.
Do I need to replace my panels when I replace the inverter?
No. Panels usually last much longer than inverters. The new inverter is chosen to match your existing panels, so they can stay in place.
Will a new inverter work with a battery?
A hybrid inverter can work with a battery straight away or later. A standard string inverter can still be paired with an AC-coupled battery in future.
